Join us on Monday, April 28, for a behind-the-scenes visit to The Nature Conservancy’s powerhouse Gift Planning program.  Hear from Angie Sosdian, Executive Director of Gift Planning (ahead of her upcoming retirement); along with Nev Major, Director of Gift Administration; Beth Fiencke, Director of Gift Planning Strategy and Stewardship; and Ed Cadogan, Senior Regional Gift Strategist. Discover the best practices and strategies of a highly successful gift planning team, including tips that can apply to shops of all sizes.

Speakers:

Ed Cadogan is the Senior Regional Gift Strategist at The Nature Conservancy. With 30 years of gift planning experience, Ed has collaborated with major gift officers and senior leaders to raise significant outright and deferred gifts in a $12 billion campaign.

Before joining TNC in 2005, Ed served as the Director of Planned Giving at Georgetown University. His career also includes positions such as Planned and Major Gifts Officer at West Virginia University Health Sciences Center, and Assistant Director of Gift and Estate Planning at Albion College

Ed earned his B.A. in International Studies and M.A. in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University. Fluent in Spanish, Ed is a first-generation American of Paraguayan descent, with his family actively working to support the indigenous people of Paraguay.


Beth Fiencke has spent 20 years working in Gift Planning at The Nature Conservancy in a number of roles. She currently serves as Director of Gift Planning Strategy & Stewardship, managing lead generation, marketing and communications and donor relations and stewardship for TNC’s Gift Planning program. She lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband, two children and two very spoiled cats.




Nev Major is the Director of Gift Administration at The Nature Conservancy where he has worked for over 27 years in a variety of roles, including Membership, Development, Campaign and Gift Planning.  As Director of Gift Administration he oversees The Nature Conservancy’s planned gift asset management, donor advised fund program, estate distributions, gift of securities, real estate and other complex assets. He also works on various gift acceptance issues across the organization.  A native Virginian, he enjoys camping and hiking around the Shenandoah Valley and currently lives in Warrenton, Virginia with his wife and a schnauzer named Scout who thinks she is a person and in charge of everything.


Angie Sosdian leads an experienced team focused on complex and deferred gifts, and who are responsible for over $225 million annually in fundraising revenue in support of the Conservancy’s ongoing mission. They additionally secure a pipeline of future gifts, including 2,000 bequest commitments in FY24 valued at over $300 million. She initiated the Conservancy’s Legacy Club recognition society, now over 32,000 members strong.

In 2005, she received The Nature Conservancy's Lifetime Achievement Award for professional excellence. In 2024, she was named to the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners "CGP Hall of Fame" and was recognized with the Conservancy’s Trailblazer Oak Tree Award for her significant achievements and remarkable impact to the organization.  Angie graduated with a B.A. in biology from Harvard. She splits her time between Arlington County, VA, and Jefferson County, WV, and she serves on the board of the Potomac Conservancy and on the fundraising committee of a local historic preservation society.



Important Event Travel Notes:

Due to limited parking, we strongly encourage using the metro or a rideshare service like Uber, Lyft, or taxi to travel to The Nature Conservancy office.

Metro: The Ballston-MU station is directly in front of TNC's building.

Parking: Parking at TNC is extremely limited so please plan to park in a nearby parking garage that is not part of TNC's building.
