Over the course of a gift planner's career, a gift planner will see a wild range of ideas from donors, clients, and advisors. Starting her professional career as a practicing estate planning lawyer to becoming a planned giving officer, to then advising clients in all aspect of philanthropy and finally as an advisor to mega wealthy families on estate planning, philanthropy, family governance and financial education, Claudia Sangster has seen it all!  In this session, Jim Normandin will facilitate her sharing what she's learned from her career through both the legal, fundraising, and professional advisor perspectives and the skills planned giving officers need to today to develop a successful gift plan.

Claudia B. Sangster, Founder & President, C Sangster, LLC, is an independent consultant specializing in financial education, family decision-making, and relationships around money and wealth. 

Claudia has over 30 years of experience in advising individuals and families in financial education, estate planning, family governance and philanthropy. Prior to starting her own consulting practice, Claudia was the Director of Family Governance and Education at Northern Trust.  Prior to joining Northern Trust, Claudia was with Harris CTC | myCFO, where she served as the Director of Philanthropy, Estate and Trust Services.

James F. Normandin is a charitable gift planning consultant with more than 30 years of experience. Prior to launching his consulting practice in 2016​, Jim spent 32 years with Memorial Medical Center Foundation, the last 10 years as President. He has extensive experience in the design, implementation, and management of wealth transfer planning, from simple to complex, designed to meet the financial, estate and philanthropic goals and objectives of the client. His frequent seminars and speaking engagements ​to professional audiences across the country ​ have earned him a reputation as one of ​ the leading specialists in the Charitable Gift and Tax Planning field.  He has served as an expert witness involving intervivos and testamentary charitable planning.
